Wednesday 6th September
September is harvest time: the gorgeous colors of the Apulian countryside welcome farmers while they lovingly pick the grapes that have been nurtured by the sun and the red soil of Puglia. This is the beginning of an ancient rite that, day after day, culminates in the making of wine, a main character in every celebration.
At Borgo Egnazia we want to salute this richness with a genuine “grapes festival”: on 6th September our Piazza will host the best of Apulian traditions in a passionate and evocative tale focusing on the early steps of wine-making: the hand picking of bunches, the barefoot crushing, the hand pressing, the pouring into our typical “capasoni” jars for must fermentation. During these steps, guests will be accompanied by local farmers and some masterful Apulian craftsmen.
While wandering around the Borgo alleys, guests will also be tempted by the delicacies of our local cuisine, prepared “live” by our chefs and our Apulian Massaie joyfully celebrating our most renowned regional recipes.
